This is a typical early morning scene in my bedroom/office
This winter I've been getting up at 4 a.m. I wake up, go downstairs and feed the cats - my cats indoors and those strays that are present outside - then I make myself some tea, go back upstairs and settle down in front of the computer. One by one my cats return from their morning stroll and by 4:30 or 5 a.m. they are all soundly asnooze here and there in our bedroom - on colder days they tend to gather on the bed - and then we have this wonderful time together until 7:30, when I leave the house to go to the gym.

Bina typically nestles on an old sweater that I've placed in a broken topless nightstand next to my computer.
Lately I've been sleeping in for some reason, not waking up until 5:30 or even 6 a.m. I find this strange because I am used to having ample time before I leave the house and I've been sort of thinking about setting my alarm clock.
These past few mornings I've noticed that the cats aren't as content as they typically are, and this morning there was a kind of commotion as I got up from my computer to get myself ready. The cats were restless and clamouring for attention, which is completely contrary to what they typically do, when they barely even notice that I get up and then kiss them good bye.
In the gym this morning it dawned on me that the cats appreciate our pre-dawn and sunrise time together and that they miss it. So, tonight when I go to sleep I will set the alarm clock for 4 a.m.

When I go downstairs to make breakfast or get more tea, one of the cats will invariably nestle in my "office chair"
